TokyoTreat July 2017 Unboxing / First YouTube Video

Well, this is it. My first proper YouTube video in absolutely years. I've been wanting to get into YouTube for a long time now, but have found it pretty hard to get to a point where i'm comfortable recording myself. Been a good while in the making, but this video came together fairly quickly. Got a long way to go before it'll be considered decent, but hey-ho, gotta start somewhere.

Wetherspoons Introduce App You Can Order From!

So something I am excited about! Found out the other day that Wetherspoons is trailing a new service. Where you order and pay for your food and drinks on your phone and they'll just bring them straight to your table.

Sadly this is only available in Watford at the moment (turns out their HQ is there!). But the app mentions a few more where the service is coming to very soon. A few scattered across the country. One in Manchester, also luckily for me, one in Leeds.

Sadly not the one I go to. But it's nearby. Beckets Bank. Will have to try it out. Funny to note that Beckets Bank has a really simple layout for a Wetherspoons. The one I go to, The Hadley Variety, has a pretty crazy layout.

So yeah, can't wait to give this service a go. I hope it works well. It'd save us a bunch of time and help make the experience all the more enjoyable. My locals have had a recent raise in badly trained bar staff, so this might put the pressure off a bit and also stops people from having to wade through drunks to order a meal!

Nintendo's Expansion into Other Genres will Save the WiiU

I often see comments saying that Nintendo consoles aren't doing well because they don't have games like COD and Skyrim. Obviously this is bullshit from people who haven't even exploded beyond a very select amount of games. But it did get me thinking about one of Nintendo's biggest legitimate criticisms, the fact they like to play it safe.

Google Bans Porn!

Today I casually went on to blogger to see how things are going over here. I was greeted with a message from Google saying that from the 23rd March they are no longer allowing sexually explicit content on any blog. If any existing blog has this sort of content they will be made private so only admins can see content and any blog made after that date with such content will be deleted.

Not that this effects me or any of my blogs whatsoever. But it does come as a shock to me. Honestly, what is Google trying to pull with this? I can't imagine many people being happy about this move. I can maybe understand bringing in new efforts to alert people of 18+ blogs. But straight out banning porn is silly.

We’ll still allow nudity if the content offers a substantial public benefit, for example in artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts.

Surely porn in general covers "substantial public benefit".  Oh well. Though how will this be policed? This stinks of YouTube's flag system here. Where blogs might get deleted because someone has reported content that doesn't actually break the rules but since the system doesn't properly check and because Google's customer service in these cases is plain awful, blogs get deleted for no reason.

Graze Box Review #1

Today I received my first Graze box after ordering it last Saturday thanks to some promo codes my Dad found in his boots. A friend of mine used to get these and he had enjoyed them and after looking through a couple of reviews online I decided i'd try it out. The website is very easy to use and shows all their different boxes and possible contents, all looking very tasty. You can select if you want certain items to be sent right away or if you never want a particular item you can set it to "bin". There's a few items that are automatically set to bin, such as the jerky and the broth products as they contain meat and not everyone wants that. So if you're hoping to get those make sure uncheck them from the bin option.

Thoughts on Stephen Fry's Comments on God

What I find most annoying about Stephen Fry as of late is the sheer amount of people that stand there applauding every single word out of that bloated head of his. As if he can't do no wrong and as if everything he says or writes is gospel.

His latest interview where he explained what he would say to God on meeting him at the gates to heaven has been a very popular subject these last few days. It's also been a thankful one for me, as for the last few months I have had a strong dislike for Mr. Fry and really I couldn't put my finger on it until now.

Sushiwaka, Excellent New Japanese Restaurant Opens in Leeds

You know those times when you stray from the beaten path, rather than walk the way you usually do you just happened to take a different turn, still heading in the same direction in the end. Sometimes you end up finding new things this way, which is what happened to me last week. I stumbled upon a newly open Japanese restaurant in Leeds City centre.

Sushiwaka, just off of the Headrow used to just be a Karaoke bar, but sometime late in December it opened a new restaurant serving wonderful Japanese dishes. Don't worry the karaoke is still there, just upstairs.

The legendary McRib, back in the UK after 12 years

Today, the last day of 2014, a burger that some only consider a myth returned in it's apparent glory to McDonalds stores across the UK. The reformed pork sandwich known only as the McRib. This burger is a cultural phenomena, everyone knows the story even if they've never had one of these burgers grace their lips. It's even had an entire Simpsons episode tributing it. The McRib first came to the UK back in 1998 and according to the SMS I received from McDonalds this morning it's not been seen here for 12 years. I missed my opportunity to have one of these in Spain a few years ago, so I simply couldn't pass up the chance now.

Doctor Who Christmas Special 2014 Review: Last Christmas

Honestly, I was extremely disappointed with this one. After one of the strongest series so far, I feel we were really let down with the Christmas episode this year and it wasn't even christmasy enough to give it the benefit of the doubt. They had a great actor to play Santa I admit, but never gave him good enough writing to actually shine. He said too many -weird things- that felt out of character and forced to be relatable to todays kids, but failed to achieve that sort of "out of touch middle age man who's trying to impress his kids" feel that would have been at least comedic.

There was some decent comedy here and there, but not enough and really it wasn't strong enough to really make me laugh. Really going into the episode there was some good horror moments and it maintained the classic WHO feel we've had throughout Capaldi's run so far. Which is fab, but really the story just wasn't good enough to live up to this.
